Gold Team Wins Series Opener, 15-8

The hitters held the edge Sunday in the first game of the Bridgewater baseball fall series as the Gold Team outscored the Crimson, 15-8.
Drew Easter paced the Gold with two homers and three RBIs in three plate appearances. Devon Snow added a two-run homer and Andy Chrismer was 3-for-5 for the Gold. Jake Wade, Mitchell Edwards and Mark Smith added two hits apiece for the Gold.
Drew Elkins paced the Crimson with a 2-for-3 effort and two RBIs. Andrew Hacker, Blake Stokely, Davis Hewitt and Jonathan Mason each added a pair of hits for the Crimson.
On the mound, Smith hurled three solid innings for the winning Gold team, allowing just one run on four hits. Wade finished up with a hitless seventh inning.
Game 2 of the Crimson-Gold World Series is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
