FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College placed two teams in the top seven at the Tournament of Champions riding event hosted by the University of Mary Washington this past weekend.
A total of 21 top college teams competed in event during a very snowy weekend. The teams were represented from the following colleges and universities: Bridgewater College, Delaware Valley College, University of Georgia, Goucher College, Lafayette College, Lynchburg College, University of Mary Washington, Mount Holyoke College, University of New Hampshire, Northern Illinois University, Tufts University, Vanderbilt University, Virginia Tech, Virginia Intermont College and the University of Wisconsin.
The Bridgewater College Crimson team placed third in the competition while the BC Gold Team placed seventh.
Delaware Valley College placed first in the competition with the Virginia Tech Sandman team taking second place honors.
Finishing between the two BC teams were Mount Holyoke College (The Situation Team) in fourth, Virginia Intermont College (Black Team) in fifth and Lafayette College in sixth place.
Three Bridgewater riders took first place ribbons: Kat Chysostom (Gold team) in Intermediate Flat, Shelby Goodman (Crimson) in Open Fences and Emily Wolek (Gold) in Open Fences.
Chelsea Hames (Gold) placed second in Intermediate Fences and Lindsey Barrett (Crimson) placed second in Open Flat. Corrie Fitz (Crimson) took second in Walk-Trot.
Katie Leonard (Crimson) placed third in Novice over Fences. Ryan Carroll (Crimson) finished fourth in Walk-Trot-Canter and Lindsey Good (Gold) added a fourth in Novice over Fences.
Placing fifth for BC were Lindsey Ferguson (Crimson) in Novice Flat and Kristina Glenn (Gold) in Walk-Trot. Caitlin Hewitt (Crimson) placed sixth in Intermediate Fences)
