Strong Showing Lifts Hewitt To Championship

CULPEPER, Va. - Caitlin Hewitt entered the HITS Finals this weekend standing in fifth place, but came out the winner and year-end Champion of a very competitive Adult Hunter Division.

Hewitt has brought her young horse,  Rio's Dancer, along after buying him as a 3-year-old. In this show she competed in the five Adult Hunter classes offered in the division and won three of them. She placed second and third in the other two classes to end up Champion. With 27 horses in the Division she accumulated enough points to move into first place for the year-end standings and she won a beautiful jacket and year-end ribbon to go along with it. Her standing for the VHSA Year End Awards will be greatly improved form this show but the points will not be totaled for that award until after Nov. 30.

Freshman rider Emily Rhodes ventured into the ring with one of the horses that Bridgewater College recently acquired. It took some trial and error to figure out what Cocoavia needed as far as equipment and routine but each class got better and she ended up sixth over fences and third on the flat in a very competitive Adult Equitation Division.

Anna Rippy took her green horse to the VHSA Associate Horse Show held at Silver Lining Farm at Deep Run. She entered the Pleasure Hunter Division and was called back seventh in two classes.
