Black Claims Reserve Championship at Oak Ridge Medal Finals

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Sarah Black and Bridgewater's star mount, Traveller, placed second in the gymnastic phase, second on the Flat phase, and third in the Final jump round to end with a total score that gave the Bridgewater College equestrian the Reserve Championship in the very highly regarded Oak Ridge Medal Finals. These finals are a 3'3" jumper style course that is most technical of all competitions held in our local associations.

Other Bridgewater riders made their presence known as well.

Senior Caitlin Hewitt rode to finish third overall, Shelby Goodman rode to a four place final, Chelsea Hames rode a newly acquired donation to seventh place and freshman Taylor Rose rode her beautiful, but challenging, mare to finish these finals in eighth place.

It was the best placing Bridgewater College has ever accomplished at this highly regarded event.

In other preliminary classes Caitlin Hewitt and Shelby Goodman finished second and fourth respectively in the Adult Medal. This qualified Caitlin for the SWVH/J Medal Final to be held at the Virginia Horse Center in two weeks.

Kelly Sprinkle rode Rio Grande to a fourth-place finish in the Randolph Medal Finals.

Taylor Rose placed fifth in the Hunter Seat Medal aboard her own mare.
