Eagles Place Second, Widen Lead In Regional Standings

ROANOKE, Va. - Bridgewater College placed second at Saturday's IHSA show hosted by Hollins University and in the process tightened its grip on first place in the regional standings.

Randolph finished first at Saturday's show, just head of the Bridgewater team. Heading into Sunday's final show, the Eagles lead the region standings by 13 points over Lynchburg College and by 17 points over Hollins.

The final IHSA competition of the season will be held Sunday morning at the University of Virginia. Sunday afternoon, the regional finals will be held at U.Va. Bridgewater has seven riders qualified for that individual competition.

At Saturday's show, Shelby Goodman finished second in the Open fences and Chelsea Hames placed third in Open Fences.

Kayla Deyamin placed fourth and Taylor Rose finished second in Intermediate Fences. Rose also placed second in Open Equitation on the Flat.

Tara Deckel finished second in Novice Fences. Juliana Peterson placed fifth in Novice on the Flat and Lauren Casey finished second in Novice Flat

In the Intermediate on the Flat, Sarah Black finished sixth. 

Geordan Duncan was sixth in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter and Christy Midgett won the Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter. Corrie Fitz won the Walk-Trot class.
