Bridgewater Riders Tie For First At Lynchburg/Randolph IHSA Show

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College tied for hgh-point team honors Friday at the Randolph/Lynchburg IHSA Show. The Eagles, the University of Virginia and Sweet Briar College each scored 30 points to tie for first place. Randolph College claimed the next spot with 28 points.

Friday's performance also moved the Bridgewater riders from third to second place in the overall region standings and closed the gap between the Eagles and first-place Hollins University. Bridgewater entered the day trailing Hollins by six points, but the margin is now down to just a single point.

In the open division, Dana Paulding took a fifth over fences and a sixth on the flat while Taylor Rose placed third on the flat and fifth over fences.

In the intermediate division, Juliana Peterson placed fourth over fences and Emmy Rhodes took a second over fences. Lauren Casey finished second on the flat. Casey placed out of intermediate flat and is qualified to go to regionals.

In the novice division, Alexandra Szucs took sixth on the flat and Peterson added a second on the flat. Katie Peach placed sixth over fences and Casey finished first over fences. Peterson pointed out of novice flat and is qualified to go to the regional show.

In the Walk Trot division, Shea Sutherland placed second and Adrien Green took fifth. 

Claire Rosso represented Bridgewater College in the Advanced Walk, Trot, Canter division.

Bridgewater returns to action Sunday afternoon when the riders travel to the Sweet Briar IHSA Show.
