Eagles Stay In Hunt For IHSA Regional Title

ROANOKE, Va. - The Bridgewater College riding team placed fourth Saturday at the Hollins IHSA show and moved closer to first place in the regional team standings with one show left in the season.

The Eagles entered Saturday's show in third place in the overall standings and were five points behind the leader. Following Saturday's show, the Eagles remain in third place, but are now just two points out of first.

The University of Virginia scored 38 points to place first at the Hollins show. Washington and Lee placed second with 35 points, followed by Hollins with 33 and Bridgewater with 32.

U.Va. leads the regional standings with 242 points, one point ahead of Randolph College in second and two points ahead of the Eagles in third. U.Va. will host the final show of the IHSA season on Sunday morning.

In the open division at the Hollins show, Taylor Rose placed third and Kayla Deyarmin took fourth over fences. On the flat, Rose and Lauren Casey each finished first in her respective class.

Emmy Rhodes placed third in intermediate over fences while Brooke Cole placed fifth in intermediate on the flat.

In the novice division Lane Hahn placed sixth and Jackie Tremblay placed third over fences. On the flat, Victoria Hatfield finished third.

In the walk/trot/canter classes, Amelia Johnston placed fifth and  Alyssa Makoski received a third-place ribbon.

In the walk/trot class, Shea Sutherland placed second.
