Riders Take First In Home IHSA Show

WEYERS CAVE, Va. - The Bridgewater College riders took first place Saturday at the IHSA show hosted by the Eagles at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center.

Bridgewater and the University of Virginia tied for the top spot with 33 points, but the Eagles were crowned champion of the show after claiming the tiebreaker. Randolph College was another point back in the standings.

In the open division, Zellie Wothers placed fourth on the flat and fifth over fences.

Meagan Escobar placed second in Intermediate on the Flat for the Eagles. In Intermediate Over Fences, Emily Thomas took second and Micaela McMullan finished fifth.

Tori Capuano placed first in Novice Over Fences and Megan Heffernan finished second in Novice on the flat.

Alex Eichenmuller placed first in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter and teammate Kara Kline claimed the blue ribbon in Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter.

Taylor Owens placed third in Walk-Trot whil Kayla Parker also took a third in the class while making her IHSA debut.

The equestrian team also honored its five senior team members - Capuano, Eichenmuller, Hannah Engle, Escobar, and Thomas - along with program member and loyal supporter Chris Baker at their final home IHSA show.
