Wothers Wins National Title At IHSA Show

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Bridgewater College's Zellie Wothers won the national title Thursday afternoon in the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat class at the IHSA National Championship show held at The Kentucky Horse Park.

Wothers, a junior from Sykesville, Md., qualified for the national show by winning the intermediate on the flat class earlier this year at the Zones Championship show. Riders who finished first or second in each class at Zones qualified for the national show.

Wothers is the third Bridgewater rider in program history to win a national title at the IHSA show. Cary Chenoweth won the Intermediate Over Fences title in 2002 and Taylor Rose took the Open on the Flat crown at the 2013 show.

A total of 16 riders participated in the Intermediate on the Flat class at the national show.
