WEYERS CAVE, Va. - The Bridgewater College IDA (Intercollegiate Dressage Association) team won its first home show in program history Sunday at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center.
Bridgewater won the tournament championship Sunday with 18 points. The University of Virginia was second with 12 points, followed by Emory & Henry College with 11 points, Virginia Tech with eight points and Radford University with three points.
The Bridgewater IDA team leads the region at this point. The region features the E&H program that has won six national championships (including titles won by Virginia Intermont) in the IDA, including a run of titles from 2014 through 2016.
In Upper Training Level tests, Meaghan Cleary claimed first place with 68.5% for the team score and Megan Heffernan was third place with 66.3 % as an individual.
In Lower Training Level tests, Morgan Sowers was first place with 72.4 % as an individual score, She was also the Individual High Score of the Tournament and Lauren Powtak was fourth place with 69.6 % for the team score.
In the Introductory Level Tests, Jemma Constant was first place with a score of 68.4% for a team score and Hannah Foster was fourth place with 63.8% as an individual.
Odessa Thacker from Emory & Henry was Reserve High Score of the Tournament with a score of 71.1%
