Woodard Named Beyond Sports Network Preseason All-American

LEESBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College junior kick return specialist and wide receiver Cliff Woodard was selected as a first team Preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network after earning All-America status a season ago from the sports media site.

Woodard was named to the first as a kick returner on the 2012 list that encompassed some of the top Division III players in the nation.

The Front Royal, Va. native led the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) in kick returns last season, averaging over 34 yards per return. On October 1, Woodard recorded his first career kick return for a touchdown on an 83-yard scamper against Apprentice.

Woodard also returned four punts on the year for the Eagles and averaged 16.2 yards per return.

Aside from his kick return duties, Woodard hauled in nine passes on the receiving end for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Woodard is joined by nine other ODAC players on the Preseason All-America team.

Beyond Sports Network is a sports media site that features colleges and players from the FCS, DII, DIII, and NAIA levels.

Woodard and the Eagles open the 2012 on September 1 when they travel to Latrobe, Pa. to do battle with St. Vincent.
