CHANDLER, Ariz. – Senior midfielder Joan Burleson was selected from among the nation's senior field hockey players to compete in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Senior Game on November 17 at William Smith College in the Finger Lakes Region of New York.
Bridgewater College head coach Allyson Kenyon will be joining Burleson at William Smith College as she was selected as a member of the coaching staff for the Senior Game.
Burleson is one of just four players from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) to be selected to compete in the Division III senior game which highlights some of the top Division III field hockey players in the nation. The Newport News, Va. native will be joined by fellow ODAC players Lindsay Leonard (Lynchburg), Shelly Milks (Lynchburg) and Nicole Woodworth (Randolph-Macon).
To date, Burleson has been selected to the All-ODAC second team on three occasions during her stellar playing career with the Eagles.
This season, Burleson tallied four goals and a pair of assists as she helped lead the Eagles to 11 victories and a berth in the semifinal round of the ODAC Tournament. Burleson's four goals during the 2012 season was a career-high as the senior started in all 19 games.
During her four year career, Burleson has started in all 72 games that she's played, tallying 12 goals, eight assists and 11 defensive saves.
Game time for the Division III Senior Game is set for 4 p.m. at William Smith's H.J. McCooey Memorial Field in Geneva, N.Y.
