ASHLAND, Va. – Bridgewater scored on a second half penalty corner to break a 2-2 deadlock and beat Randolph-Macon 3-2 on Saturday.

Laura Gretz finished off a pass from Georgia Howard in the 43rd minute for the game-winning goal.

The Eagles successfully killed of the game after that, allowing just one corner and no shots after taking the lead, and recording seven more shot attempts themselves.

BC had taken a 2-0 lead in the opening 20-plus minutes.

Off a penalty corner, Gretz was saved by Kelsey Stanley (9 stops) and Karinne Moyer knocked in the rebound to open the scoring.

Tessa Tierson made it 2-0 with 14:20 left in the first half, beating Stanley to her left side.

Jacqueline DiFulvio nearly made it 3-0 just two minutes later. Her shot hit the post, before the Eagle sophomore's rebound was saved by Stanley. The flurry continued as Meghan Obaugh's shot was blocked, leading to a penalty corner, and Casey Gaffney was then denied by Stanley.

Randolph-Macon stormed back to tie however. Ayanna Healy scored on a corner five minutes before halftime, with an assist from Claire Magill.

Just after the break, the Yellow Jackets struck on another corner. Magill's shot was blocked but she collected the rebound and passed it to Kathleen Tanner to make it 2-2.

Gretz would score on the game's next shot attempt however, to put Bridgewater back in front for good.

Bridgewater is 4-7, 1-1 ODAC, and will host Lynchburg on Friday at 7 p.m.
