LEXINGTON, Va. - The Generals scored twice early, as the Bridgewater College field hockey team fell 3-0 at Washington & Lee on Saturday.

Each team totaled eight shots and four on the target in the first half, but the Generals put two of them away in the opening 13 minutes.

Lauren Paolano opened the scoring in the eighth minute, and Haley Tucker made it 2-0 five minutes later.

The Eagles had chances to get back in the game. Jacqueline DiFulvio was saved late in the first half, and Emily Matisons' rebound was swept off the line for a defensive save.

Ali Bishop finished with six saves for Bridgewater including four in the second half, but another goal for Tucker early in the second period pushed the final tally to 3-0.

Tucker also hit the post in the game, just missing out of a hat trick.

Bridgewater (5-10, 2-3) is currently in fifth place in the ODAC, while W&L remains in first place at 6-0 in the league.

The Eagles play at Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday before hosting Shenandoah to close out the regular season next Saturday- a game BC will have to win to have a chance at a home playoff game.
