BRIDGEWATER, Va. -
Sophomore goalie Ali Bishop has been named an honorable mention National Player of the Week by both Longstreth/NFHCA and Synapse Sports.

Bishop stepped up with 19 saves over two league contests last week to help the Eagles earn a home first round game in the ODAC Tournament. Over two games, she was 2-0 with a GAA of 0.50 and a save percentage of .950.

Bishop opened her week with eight saves in 70 minutes of action for a 2-1 victory at Virginia Wesleyan. She upped the ante in a second full game against Shenandoah, stopping 11 shots to lock up a 1-0 shutout.

She was one of four honorable mentions in the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III weekly award winners for competition from Oct. 23-29. National Defensive Player of the Week honors went to Montclair State's Marissa Siconolfi.

Synapse Sports, which included Bishop on its National All-Rookie Team last season, listed her as one of 12 honorable mentions this week. They chose a different Montclair State defender, Janell Harden, as Defensive Player of the Week.

Bridgewater saw its season end last night in the ODAC quarterfinals with a loss to Shenandoah.
