Allyson Kenyon begins her seventh year at the helm of the Bridgewater College field hockey team.
Kenyon, a native of Harrisburg, PA, attended Central Dauphin
East High School where she participated in three varsity sports:
Field Hockey, Swimming and Soccer. In 1996 she was named the
school's Most Outstanding Female Athlete for her efforts on all
three teams. She continued her athletic and academic career at
Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA where she participated on both
the field hockey and swim teams for all four years. She was a three
time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association's
All-Academic Team and the Mid-Atlantic Conference All-Academic
squads for both sports. Kenyon earned her Bachelor's Degree in
Politics from Juniata in 2000. Kenyon later earned her Master's
Degree in Athletic Administration/Coaching from James Madison in
2005.
Emphasizing academic excellence as well as teamwork and
competitiveness, Kenyon has had 19 athletes receive NFHCA Division
III All-Academic Team honors. She has also coached three
all-conference first team selections, three all-conference second
team players, and eight all-conference honorable mention
awardees.
Prior to her years at Bridgewater, Kenyon worked in Washington,
D.C. for a non-profit organization. She also helped coach the
inaugural season of the T.C. Williams Varsity Girls' Lacrosse
team.
Kenyon currently resides in Harrisonburg, VA and also serves
as the assistant lacrosse coach for Bridgewater College. In her
spare time she enjoys hiking, kayaking, playing in the local
recreational soccer league, and of course, playing field hockey and
lacrosse every chance she gets.
Kathy Kerr will begin her fifth season as the assistant
field hockey coach and the women's head lacrosse coach at
Bridgewater College.
Kerr was the head coach at King's College in Wilkes-Barre,
Pennsylvania. She was named head coach at King's during the summer
of 2001. The lacrosse program showed improvement in each of Kerr's
four seasons. Her first team finished with a 3-12 record. In her
second year, the team finished 5-10, tying the college record for
most wins in a season. The 2004 posted the first winning record in
college history at 8-6 and this past season the team finished 11-7
and qualified for the conference playoffs for the first time in
college history.
Kerr's teams also displayed excellence in the classroom. While at
King's, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association
recognized her team as the top-ranked program in Division III with
a 3.49 grade point average. In all divisions, King's GPA was second
only to Stanford's. This past season, Kerr's Bridgewater team was
one of 62 Division III teams to earn the acadmic team honor from
the IWLCA.
Prior to her head coaching stint at King's, Kerr was an assistant
women's lacrosse coach at Marymount University. She also coached at
Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology for four
seasons.
Kerr is a 1996 graduate of NCAA Division I Cornell University where
she earned her degree in American Government and was a member of
the lacrosse team. Kerr continued her education at the University
of Maryland where she earned a Master's degree in Sport Studies
(Sociology of Sport).
