Golfers Receive Votes in Most Recent GolfWorld/Nike Golf Poll

NEW YORK – Following a fourth-place finish in the consolation bracket at the 41st Annual Marine Corps Intercollegiate tournament, the Bridgewater Eagles golf team picked up votes in the most recent GolfWorld/Nike Golf Coaches Poll released on Thursday.

The Eagles garnered 26 votes in the most recent survey of the nation's coaches.

Bridgewater senior golfer Travis Gahman shot a Bridgewater course-record five-under, 65, to pace the Eagles to a fourth place finish in the consolation round at Camp Lejeune.

As a team, the Eagles shot a team total of +1, 281 to finish the weekend with a three-day total of +16, 864.

After winning all four tournament starts since early March, Methodist has vaulted up to the No. 1 spot in the Division III college coaches' poll. The Monarchs claimed 13 of 16 first-place votes to unseat previous No. 1 Guilford, which dropped to the No. 2 spot.

Illinois Wesleyan, Redlands and UT-Tyler fell into the 3rd, 4th and 5th spots, respectively. New to the top 10 are No. 9 Greensboro (up from No. 14) and No. 10 Emory (up from No. 19).

Two new schools join the top 25: No. 23 Otterbein and No. 24 Hampden-Sydney.

Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday as it wraps up the regular season at the McDaniel Spring Shootout.
