MORGANTON, N.C. - The Bridgewater College men's golf team opened its spring campaign at the Montreat Cavalier Invitational, sitting in third place after Round One.

Luke Hill is in second place overall after carding a 75, just one stroke off the lead.

Ronald Uszenski shot a 79, while Ocean Armstrong (83) and Jeremy Pannebaker (84) are in 20th and 23rd place, respectively.

Jason Spaar shot 86, while Jake Norby carded an 87.

Bridgewater's team score of 323 is good for third place heading into Tuesday's final round, behing Georgetown College (314) and Bob Jones (316).

Silver Creek Plantation is considered a very difficult layout, and the course was a bit of a challenge to be prepared for three weeks into spring practices.

"This course is extremely challenging, especially around the greens and especially the way they were placing the pins," said head coach John Rogers. "This was one of those days when the players leave the course frustrated only to realize that the team is in contention as well as some of the individuals. Hopefully we can enter the second round ready to chase the teams and players in front of us, and overcome the angst that comes with higher than normal scores."

Bridgewater entered the spring segment of the season fifth in scoring in the ODAC, while Armstrong and Hill are both in the top-10 individually.
