No. 2 Ranked Guilford Holds Off Eagles, 79-67

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Guilford College, ranked No. 2 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25, closed the first half with a 17-5 run to take a 10-point halftime lead and defeated the Bridgeater College Eagles, 79-67, Wednesday in ODAC action.
With 5:17 left in the first half, the Eagles took a 27-25 lead on a dunk by Kordero Thompson, but the Quakers gained control with their 17-5 run over the next five minutes.
A 3-pointer by Clay Henson put the Quakers on top 28-27, but BC's Cody Griffith answered with a layup, giving the Eagles a one-point edge with 3:24 left in the half.
That turned out the be Bridgewater's final lead as Henson scored eight points in the final three minutes, including a pair of 3-pointers, to spark the Quakers to a 42-32 halftime advantage.
Henson hit 6-of-12 3-point shots and finished with 28 points to lead all scorers. Backcourt mate Rhett Bonner scored 18 points and Tyler Sanborn added 17. Sanborm, Guilford's 6-foot-10 center led the Quakers to a dominatin 41-20 advantage on the boards with 19 rebounds.
Senior guard Dominic Trawick scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Eagles. Jake Johnson finished with 16 points for Bridgewater.
Guilford improved to 16-1 overall and 7-1 in the ODAC while Bridgewater is 5-9 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
