Ferrum Outscores Eagles

FERRUM - Ferrum used a hot-shooting first half to open up a double digit lead and the Panthers went on to defeat Bridgewater College, 98-84, Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half and led 49-37 at the break.

Ferrum stretched the lead to 20 in the second half and the Eagles could get no closer than 12 down the stretch.

Aaron Adams scored 17 points to lead four Eagles in double figures. Ronnie Thomas and Ed Reddick each scored 12 points and Kenneth Waugh added 11.

"We scored enough points to win a basketball game, but we just didn't do the job on the defensive end," BC head coach Don Burgess said. "Ferrum is talented and experienced and today they played well."

The Eagles continue to play without leading scorer Cody Griffith who is still rehabbing an early season injury. The team also played most of Saturday's game without starting big man Daniel McClain who played just three minutes before leaving the game with an injury.

The Eagles (4-4) now leave for Florida where they will play games on Monday and Tuesday.
