BRIDGEWATER – Bridgewater College will host its annual Don Glick Classic this weekend with Eastern Mennonite, Apprentice School and Keystone College joining the Eagles for the two-day event.
Action begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. when EMU plays the Apprentice School with the Bridgewater-Keystone game to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Eastern Mennonite plays Keystone at 1:00 p.m. while the Eagles meet Apprentice at 3:00 p.m.
Bridgewater enters the Classic with a 2-4 overall record. In its most recent outing, the Eagles lost a shootout to Guilford College, 92-86.
Senior transfer guard AJ Horde leads the Eagles in scoring with 17.7 points per game. A pair of freshmen are also averaging double figures with Dimetri Chambers scoring 14.5 points per game while Josh Cammon is scoring at an 11.3 clip per contest.
In addition to the close loss to Guilford, Bridgewater has an overtime loss to Moravian and a last-second loss to Marymount among its four setbacks.
Eastern Mennonite is also 2-4 and, like the Eagles, have experienced several close losses. The Royals have lost their four games by a total of 15 points. Eastern Mennonite has an ODAC contest Wednesday evening against Emory & Henry in its final game before the Glick Classic.
Seniors Isaiah Harris-Winn and Maleke Jones return to lead the Royals. Harris-Winn leads the team in scoring and rebounding averaging 15.7 points and 7.7 boards per game. Jones is scoring 12.8 points per game and leads the team in assists with 3.7 per outing. Fellow senior RaShawn Latimer averages 12.5 points and junior sharpshooter Travis Clower scores 10.2 points per contest.
Keystone College enters the weekend with a 4-3 record. The Giants average 87.1 points per game and have topped the 100-point mark twice. Four players average in double figures, led by JT Bennett with a 14.7 scoring average. John Kirkpatrick adds 10.7 points per game and leads Keystone with 7.6 rebounds per contest. Mark Gilliam scores 11.4 points per game and Perry Belcher adds 10 points per game for the Giants.
Apprentice is still looking for its first win of the season as the Builders are off to a 0-9 start. Zach Johnson leads the Builders in scoring with a 17.9 average and rebounding with an 8.5 average. Point guard Jalen Warren adds 12.3 points and 3.5 assists per contest.
