Men's Swimming Earns Program's First Victory

EMORY, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swimming team earned its first-ever victory, beating Emory & Henry 111-40 on the road.

The Eagles won both relays, with Ralph Carter, Junior Hernandez, Raphael Stanek and Eric Garcia taking the 200 medley relay (2:49.42), and Jarratt Davis, Chris Hollie, Troy Jackson and Matt Young winning the 200 free relay (2:02.40).

Young and Jackson went 1-2 in both the 50 free and 100 free. In the 50, Young swam 28.51 while Jackson touched in 33.29. The pair swam 1:06.59 and 1:15.17 in the 100, respectively.

Tito Alcazar won both the 100 breast (1:23.84) and 400 IM (6:17.30), with Hernandez placing second in the 100 breast. Hollie won the 400 free, with a time of 6:06.72.

While BC won seven of 10 events, it was Davis- the team's only individual event winner in each of the past two meets- who placed second in two of the other three races.

Davis was second in the 100 fly (1:19.42) and 200 free (2:33.59). The other event Bridgewater did not claim was the 100 back, where Ben Williams finished second overall (1:32.52).

Bridgewater (1-3, 1-3 ODAC) will swim against Ferrum on Wednesday, at the campus of Sweet Briar College.
