Men's Tennis Defeats Hornets, 8-1

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater men's tennis team picked up a big win on a chilly Thursday afternoon by defeating Lynchburg College 8-1 in ODAC play.

The Eagles controlled doubles play to take a 3-0 lead in the match.

Freddie Roberts and Nathaniel Horner were the first off the courts as the Eagles' duo rolled to an 8-1 win over Nick Savino and Dominick Gutierrez at the No. 3 slot.

At No. 1 doubles, BC's Joe Dillenbeck and Josh Rodgers turned back Anderson Link and Zack Shane 8-3.

Kyle Hartfield an Thomas Rishcoff completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 victory at No. 2 over Juan Borga and Alex Ferraccio.

Rishcoff was the first off the courts in singles play as he defeated Shane 6-2, 6-3 to win at No. 3. Dillenbeck clinched the victory for the Eagles with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Gutierrez at the No. 2 slot.

The Eagles also picked up points with wins in the final three flights.

Rodgers rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Bryce Barber at No. 4 and Horner stopped Will Nsoesie 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 5 slot. Bridgewater Emmett Johnson won at No. 6, defeating Ferraccio 3-6, 6-4, (10-5) at No. 6.

Lynchburg picked up its lone point at No. 1 singles where Borga outlasted Hartfield 7-5, 4-6 (10-5).
