HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 9-0 victory Sunday over Albion.
The Eagles took a 3-0 lead after doubles. Joe Dillenbeck and Josh Rodgers had the closest match, winning 8-4 over Josh McGarry and Nick Kinachtchouk at the No. 1 doubles position. Freddie Roberts and Nathaniel Horner rolled to an 8-2 win at No. 2 over Robert Joerg and Israel Trevino. Emmett Johnson and Kris Stokes defeated Patrick Barclay and Michael Bernard at the No. 3 slot.
The Eagles won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Dillenbeck had a close match at No. 1, defeating McGarry 7-6, 6-3. Rodgers won at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Joerg. and Johnson stopped Trevino 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3. Roberts downed Kinachtchouk at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-1 and Horner blanked Barclay 6-0, 6-0 to win at No. 5. Stokes completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 over Bernard.
