LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's and women's track teams will participate Friday at the ODAC Indoor Championship Meet hosted by Lynchburg College at Liberty University.
Field events begin Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. with the first running events hitting the track at 4 p.m.
For the women, several student-athletes should challenge for individual titles.
Chrissy Rhodes will look to defend her title in the pole vault where she ranks second during the current indoor season. Rhodes has finished first in the event in each of her first three seasons.
In the shot put, junior Katie Cummings is ranked second in the event with a throw of 39-3, four inches behind Lynchburg's Ashley Allen. Cummings also has a chance of earning points in the weight throw where she ranks fifth heading into the ODAC meet.
Sophomore distance runner Olivia Mills appears to be an odds-on favorite in the mile where her time of 5:13.73 is 12 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. Mills will also run in the 5000 meters and should be a contender for top honors in that event as well.
In the 800, Morgan Keplinger, the defending outdoor champion, ranks sixth in the event in a very competitive field.
The men's best event on the track should be the 55 meter hurdles where the Eagles post five of the top nine times this season. Daryus Beale should be the top challenger for the title as he has the second fastest time at 8.09 seconds, just behind Lynchburg's Rachad Davis at 8.04. Ben Martindell is ranked fourth in the event with Dalton Slagle owning the sixth fastest time.
