Cummings, Sohl Lead Eagles Into ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet
The Bridgewater College men's and women's track teams will compete at the 2012 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships beginning Friday evening at the Lynchburg College track.
Following is a breakdown of the Eagles' best bets to score points at the conference meet.
Men's 200 Meters – The Eagles have three runners ranked in the top eight, led by Lance with a time of 22.53 that ranks fourth in the ODAC. Julius Delbridge ranks fifth at 22.44 and Daryus Beale is No. 8 at 22.93.
Men's 400 Meters – Delbridge is BC's best hope as he ranks eighth with a time of 51:02.
Men's 800 Meters – Tim Wisniewski has a best of 1:58.31 to rank No. 8 in a strong field.
Men's 1500 Meters – In another tightly bunched field, Ryan Speray ranks No. 11 with a time of 4:06.83.
Men's 5000 and 10000 Meters – Freshman Luke Sohl ran 14:59.48 to set a new BC mark in the 5K and ranks second in the conference. Sohl should also score in the 10000. Fellow freshman Tim Miller ranks No. 11 in the 5000 and could contend for a top six spot.
Men's 400 Meter Hurdles – Jevone Fentress enters with the eighth-best time of 58.92.
Men's 3000 Steeplechase – Abe Rittenhouse sits at No. 7 in the conference with a time of 10:06.32.
Men's 4x100 Relay – The Eagles are the favorite in this event with the ODAC's fastest time of 42.37 seconds. Running for the Eagles should be Keith Lance, Jacob Wright, Julius Delbridge and Daryus Beale.
Men's Triple Jump – Eugene Cummings is the favorite in this event with a best jump of 45 feet, 4 ½ inches. Stefan Vessels ranks No. 5 at 43 feet, ½ inch.
Women's Shot Put – Katie Cummings will enter the meet ranked No. 4 with a best of 38 feet, 6 ¼ inches.
Women's Hammer – Katie Cummings ranks No. 2 in the ODAC with a throw of 143 feet, 4 inches, just five inches shy of the best throw in the conference.
Women's Discus – Katie Cummings ranks No. 2 in this event with a distance of 121 feet, 6 inches.
Women's Discus – Jessie Owens is a solid No. 2 in the event with a best of 103 feet, 7 inches.
