Distance Medley Relay Snaps Records at The Armory

NEW YORK - In the men's college distance medley relay race, the Bridgewater Eagles quartet of Nevin Heckman, Sam Gunther, Tim Wisniewski and Luke Sohl set a new school and conference record with a finish of 10:17.20 on Friday evening at the Armory Collegiate Invitational.

Bridgewater's finish in the event snapped the former Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) record of 10:26.32 set by Lynchburg College in 2003.

Heckman set a solid pace for the Eagles in the leadoff leg, running a 3:07 split in the 1,200 meter portion of the event.

In the 400 meter leg, Gunther came through with a split time of 51.4 seconds. Wisniewski followed with a sub two-minute split in the 800 meter run. The senior finished the leg with a time of 1:58.8.

Sohl ran the anchor leg in tremendous fashion, clocking a 4:18 mile to wrap up the record-setting performance for the Eagles. Bridgewater's performance was good enough to place 10th in a field heavily-loaded with Division I and II competition.

Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday morning when Sohl competes in the 5,000 meter run. The Eagles finish up the weekend as Heckman and Wisniewski compete in the 800 meter run on Saturday afternoon.
