NEW YORK – Sophomore Luke Sohl crushed the Bridgewater College record in the 5,000 meter run on Saturday morning to help cap off an outstanding weekend for the Eagles men's track and field team at the Armory Collegiate Invitational.
Sohl was the top non-Division I finisher in the field and finished with a time of 14:55.57 to place 11th overall in the college division race. The sophomore's performance snapped the school record previously held by Nate Rittenhouse by over 21 seconds. Sohl's time in the race is the lone sub 15 minute time in the ODAC this season.
Senior Tim Wisniewski and freshman Nevin Heckman wrapped up the day with their performance in the 800 meter run. Heckman paced the way for the Eagles in the event with a time of 1:59.51, which was good enough for 52nd place and was the top finish by a Division III athlete. The freshman's time is the lone sub-two minute mark in the conference this season. Wisniewski finished in 71st place after crossing the line in a time of 2:03.24.
Bridgewater is back in action on Friday, February 8 when it travels to the Ursinus Invitational in Collegeville, Pa. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
