Newport News, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track and field team competed in its first meet after a month-long break at the CNU Quadrangular hosted by Christopher Newport on Friday.
Senior Darin Council won the triple jump on a big leap of 13.90m (45-7.25ft), which ranks 15th in NCAA Division III. Council was second in the shot put on a toss of 13.59m (44-7ft) and hit a mark of 10.77m (35-4ft) in the weight throw.
Junior Prescott Terrell hit a personal record in the weight throw on a toss of 14.41m (47-3.50ft). He was also fifth in the shot put with a throw of 12.28m (40-3.50ft).
In the 3000m, freshman Max Weidman won the race in 9:00.46, followed by Jamie Hiegel on a time of 9:00.87 and then seniors Connor Maguder (9:01.63) and Trey Gibson (9:01.79). Freshman Adam Bailey paced a field of Eagles in the 600m with a time of 1:30.28.
Sophomore Alex Galloway was the top Eagle in sprints, winning the 200-meter dash in 22.99 seconds and earning third in the 60-meter dash on a time of 7.16 seconds. His time in the 200m stands second in the ODAC performance charts. Freshman Donovan Hollins placed fifth behind a time of 7.29 seconds in the 60m.
A quartet of Bailey, Ryan Mays, Galloway and Moore clocked a time of 3:37.85 for third in the 4x400m relay.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday at the Liberty Kick Off in Lynchburg, Va., at 9:00 a.m.
