LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track and field team sent a select group of athletes to compete in the Liberty Kickoff hosted by Liberty University on Saturday.
Reining ODAC Track Athlete of the Week Alex Galloway topped his previous outing in the 200-meter dash with an indoor personal record time of 22.77 seconds.
Trey Gibson and Max Weidman finished 18th and 19th in a field that included DI and DII competitors in the one mile run. Gibson ran a PR time of 4:27.35 and Weidman made his debut in the event with an impressive time of 4:27.68.
Jamie Hiegel finished the mile in 4:31.22 while Connor Maguder clocked in at 4:34.12. Gibson and Weidman's time in the mile slot 3-4 in the ODAC and Hiegel and Maguder's time stand 7-8 in the conference
Brandon Christian was the only Eagle to compete in the jumping events. He made his season-debut in the triple jump with a leap of 13.65m (44-9.50ft) and cleared 1.84m (6-0.50ft) in the high jump. Both marks rank third in the conference charts.
The Eagles will compete again next Saturday at the GMU Patriot Games in Fairfax, Va., at 10:00 a.m.
