Eagles Finish Strong at Finn Pincus Invite

SALEM, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track and field team continued to shine in distance events during the second and final day of the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday.

Against tough Division II competition, Bridgewater College was able to turn in a 1-2 finish in the one mile run. Max Weidman clocked a PR time of 4:26.63 to claim victory and Connor Maguder was runner-up at 4:27.80. Logan Good ran the event in 4:57.74.

Senior Trey Gibson recorded an indoor PR time of 2:00.87 in 800m to earn fourth place. His brother Shane Gibson also did well in the event by posting a speedy time of 2:01.58 to come in eighth. The Gibson Bros. now rank 5-6 in the ODAC performance charts.

Weidman (12th, 2:02.55), Johnny Haizel-Cobbina (13th, 2:03.33) and Adam Bailey (14th, 2:03.90) finished consecutively in the 800m.

Junior Daniel Breedlove was 10th in the 400m on an indoor PR time of 51.90 seconds. His time stands ninth in the ODAC and the BC all-time lists. Ryan Mays finished among the top 20 in a deep field on a time of 53.26 seconds.

For sprints, Donovan Hollins finished 10th at 23.52 seconds to pace BC in the 200-meter dash.

Brandon Christian, Alex Galloway, Rashan Davis, Richard Wojno and Hollins cracked the top 22 to qualify for the 60-meter semifinals.

During the 60-meter semis, Alex Galloway was the only Eagle to qualify for the finals after claiming second in a blazing 7.08 seconds. Christian was 11th on a time of 7.15 seconds, Wojno earned 16th at 7.26 seconds, Davis took 20th in 7.30 second and Hollins placed 22nd with a time of 7.32 seconds.

Galloway tied for sixth place in the 60-meter finals at 7.13 seconds. Christopher Moore ran a season-best 9.28 seconds in the 60 meter hurdle prelims.

A team of Galloway, Breedlove, Mays and Davis ran a fourth-best time of 3:30.18 in the 4x400m relay. The 4x4 effort slots fourth in the conference.

Senior Darin Council led the throwers in the shot put after hitting a season-best 13.83m (45-4.50ft), which tops the ODAC charts. Corey Huffman (12.94m/42-5.50ft) took 11th, Don Mills Jr. (12.75m/41-10.00ft) was 14th and Prescott Terrell finished 16th (12.54m/41-1.75ft)

Terrell cracked the top 10 in the weight throw, tossing 13.98m (45-10.50ft) for ninth place. Council (12.37m/40-7.00ft) and Mills Jr. (12.33m/40-5.50ft) finished 18-19.

Council also produced a top three finish in the triple jump on a leap of 14.06m (46-1.50ft) while Christian registered a ninth-place effort behind a long jump mark of 6.59m (21-7.50ft).

The Eagles return to action next Saturday at the UCS Invite in Winston-Salem, N.C., at 9:30 a.m.
