Sohl Places 51st at Cross Country National Championship
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Bridgewater College sophomore Luke Sohl placed 51st at the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning.
Sohl crossed the finish line with a time of 25:19 grabbing 51st place out of 280 runners. He set a 5:06 mile pace on the eight kilometer course and at the five kilometer mark Sohl had a time of 15:59.
The Burke, Va. native placed seventh last weekend at the South/Southeast regional championship in Hampton, Ga. with a time of 26:05. Sohl finished over a minute faster at the National Championship than the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship with a time of 26:31.
Tim Nelson from the University of Wisconsin-Stout paced the field to earn the individual national championship with a winning time of 24:26.
Lynchburg College's Cody Stanton finished first out of the ODAC competitors in 25th place with a time of 25:00.
Sohl's stellar performance closes the 2012-2013 Bridgewater men's cross country season.
