Lori Hertzler Schrock begins her eighth season as the men's and
women's head cross country coach and her 12th season as the
assistant Track coach for middle and long distances. Coach Schrock
has taken the endurance program to new heights through her training
philosophies and bringing in solid high school runners. Workouts
are based on exercise physiology principles and experience.
Each and every step has a specific purpose and result in mind.
Athletes are encouraged to ask questions and to add their thoughts
in the training process.
In the past seven Cross-Country seasons, Schrock has
coached twenty athletes to All-State honors, 18 athletes
to All-Conference honors, six to All-South/Southeast Regional
honors and an NCAA National Qualifier. In 2006 Coach Schrock was
named Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the men's team's
second place finish at the O.D.A.C. championship.
Since coming to Bridgewater as an assistant track coach in 1997,
Schrock has coached numerous athletes to new levels in the throws,
jumps, hurdles, and distances. Currently, Schrock focuses on the
middle and long distance runners. In recent seasons, many of
athletes coached by Schrock set new personal records and several
set new school records. Schrock has also coached numerous long and
middle distance athletes to top performances on the College's Top
15 All-Time performance lists. In the ODAC, Schrock has coached
numerous athletes to All-Conference honors including the 2004 Men's
Track Athlete of the Meet.
Schrock, a 1993 graduate of Eastern Mennonite University, was a
four-year letter winner in Track and Field and three year letter
winner in cross-country and track. Schrock won thirteen track
events at the O.D.A.C. Invitational meet during her career. Schrock
also held the school record in the 400m intermediate hurdles at her
college alma mater for fifteen years. At one time Schrock was the
Virginia Independent School state high school champion and tied the
state record for the 300m intermediate hurdles. Before coming to
Bridgewater College, Lori was an assistant track coach at EMU with
BC alum, Matt Munson for four years.
Coach Schrock holds a Master's of Science in Kinesiology from
James Madison University and several professional certifications
including; Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist from
the NSCA, USA Track & Field Level II Endurance Coach, USA Track
& Field Level II Sprint & Hurdles Coach, ACSM Health &
Fitness Instructor with Enhanced Qualifications, and ACE Personal
Trainer. Most recently, Schrock obtained her USA Track
& Field Level III Endurance Coach certification which is the
highest level of certification offered by USA Track &
Field.
In addition to her coaching duties, Schrock is Program Director
for the Funkhouser Wellness Center.
Schrock resides in Mt. Crawford with her husband, Bryan and son,
Jon.
Bill Testerman begins his second year as assistant coach in
cross country. Bill is a 1999 graduate of James Madison University,
where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology with minors in
Kinesiology and Anthropology. Bill was also certified as a personal
trainer for four years by the the American Council on Exercise, and
has designed numerous strength and endurance training programs
based on a solid foundation of exercise science.
Bill has participated in Cross Country and Track & Field at
both the Division III and Division I levels, where he competed at
distances of 800m to 8km. As a freshman at Washington University in
St. Louis, Bill consistently ran among the top seven runners and
earned recognition as one of the fastest freshmen in the Midwest
Region. As a sophomore, Bill transferred to JMU, where he continued
to compete and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association's
All-Academic Team for Track & Field.
Currently, Bill is also employed as an Information Technology
Administrator, and lives in Weyers Cave, VA.
