BC places four on All-ODAC softball first team

 Bridgewater College placed four players on the All-ODAC Softball First Team released Friday. The Eagles also had two second-team picks and one honorable mention selection.

Heading the first-team selections is senior outfielder Kaitlyn Bowman, a four-time All-ODAC pick and a three-time first-team choice. Bowman, BC’s all-time leader in hits, homers, RBIs, extra-base hits and total bases, was second on the team in hitting with a .376 average and third in RBIs with 31.

Also named to the first team were senior catcher Caity Butler, junior pitcher Ashley Gills and sophomore designated player Emily Morris

Butler, a three-time All-ODAC first-team pick, had 25 RBIs this season, second-most on the team. She hit for a .350 average and led the team in homers with five.

Gills, finished the season with a 13-3 record. She posted a 1.04 ERA and finished with 100 strikeouts in 101 innings.

Morris led the Eagles this season with a team-high .404 batting average. She also led the team in RBIs with 37. Morris also led the conference in base hits with 55.

Named to the All-ODAC second team were freshman second baseman Hillary Rees and senior shortstop Mallory Sandridge.

Rees finished the season with a .362 batting average. She led the team in stolen bases with 16 and committed just four errors the entire season. Rees tied for the conference lead in doubles with 13.

Sandridge posted a .331 batting average and was one of the top defensive shortstops in the conference with a .963 fielding percentage.

Named honorable mention on the All-ODAC team was sophomore third baseman Lauren Childress. Childress hit for a .373 average and led the team in triples with four.
