BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Senior shortstop Hillary Rees was named to the Capital One Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-District first team following voting conducted among the nation's sports information directors.
Rees owns a 3.76 GPA in chemistry and is on pace to graduate in May. The senior also minors in mathematics.
During the 2012 season, Rees started in 44 of Bridgewater's 45 games and hit at a .324 average. Rees pounded out 45 hits and scored 41 times from the top of the lineup for the Eagles and also became the career stolen bases leader with 52.
Aside from her 2012 season highlights, Rees is a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic team choice and is the career leader for the Eagles in runs scored (168), doubles (49), walks (71) and stolen bases.
Rees is also a two-time NFCA All-Region selection for her on-the-field performance.
A native of Mount Crawford, Va., Rees ranks in the top five in seven different career categories.
Rees is one of just two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) players recognized on the All-District first team.
Rees and the Eagles own a 33-12 overall record in 2012 and now await the announcement of the 2012 NCAA Regional Selections on Sunday, May 6. The selection show will occur the next day on Monday, May 7 at NCAA.com.
