Softball Newcomer Anderson Named to NFCA High School All-American Team

Incoming freshman softball player Kasey Anderson was named to the NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-American team following an exceptional season for the Chatham Cavaliers. Anderson was the lone representative from the Old Dominion State to make the list.
Fulk Picks Up Three Recruits for 2010 Class

Bridgewater College head softball coach Donnie Fulk has added three recruits to the class of 2010. All three recruits were named District Player of the Year during their senior year, with two of them sharing the top honor in the Shenandoah County District.
Morris and Rees Named to VaSID All-State Team

After posting stellar seasons on the diamond, junior Emily Morris and sophomore Hillary Rees were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State Softball team in voting conducted among the state's Sports Information Directors. Morris picked up first team honors, while Rees was a second team selection.

Morris and Rees Earn NFCA All-Region Honors
Junior Emily Morris and sophomore Hillary Rees were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team after leading the Bridgewater Eagles softball team to a 33-10 season. Morris earned first team honors at designated player, while Rees picked up third team honors at second base in voting conducted among the region coaches.

In a highly competitive selection process, the Bridgewater Eagles softball team had three players selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team in voting conducted among the District III Sports Information Directors.

Six Eagles Earn Softball All-Conference Honors; Childress Named to First Team
Six players earned All-ODAC softball honors following Bridgewater’s 33-10 season and third place finish at the 2010 ODAC Softball Championships. Junior Lauren Childress led the way for the Eagles with her first career first-team selection.

Bridgewater’s Season Ends with 3-2 Loss to Virginia Wesleyan
The Bridgewater Eagles softball team took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but a run in each of the final two innings from the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins put an end to BC’s season as the Eagles fell by a 3-2 tally.

In what could be a busy day for the Bridgewater Eagles softball team, the Eagles easily took down the Randolph WildCats by a 16-1 tally to advance in the loser’s bracket of 2010 ODAC Softball Tournament.

Six-Run Third Leads Eagles to 7-6 Victory
In a game that was eerily similar to an earlier season doubleheader between the two teams, Bridgewater jumped out to a 7-2 lead after three innings before being forced to hold off a late Guilford rally en route to a 7-6 victory over the Quakers.

Eagles Fall to Lynchburg in Tournament Opener 4-3; Gills Sets Career Strikeouts Record
Against a familiar Lynchburg Hornets team, the Bridgewater Eagles fell behind early before rallying back to bring the game to within one over the final innings. One run is as close as the game would get, as the Hornets held off the late Eagles charge as BC fell by a 4-3 tally in the opening game of the 2010 ODAC Softball Tournament.

Softball Extends Winning Streak to 13 with Sweep of Southern Virginia
In the regular season finale at the BC Softball Field, the Bridgewater Eagles (31-8) used solid pitching and a pair of three-run first innings to claim a doubleheader sweep over the Southern Virginia Knights (21-9).

Softball Earns Fifth Seed in Upcoming ODAC Championships; Will Play Familiar Foe Lynchburg
After a posting a 12-6 mark in conference play, the Bridgewater Eagles still had to use a series of tiebreakers to find out which seed they would earn for the upcoming ODAC Softball Championships. Following the tiebreak procedures, the Eagles earned the fourth seed and will open against Lynchburg.
