Swim Team Victorious at Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va. - In the team's first tri-meet of the season, the Bridgewater Eagles swim team finished at the top the pack, easily defeating host Emory and Henry and Salem in action at Emory and Henry.
Bridgewater won the team race with 118 points while Salem finished second with 55 points and the host team coming in third with 24 points.
BC turned in a dominating performance by winning eight of the 11 scheduled event on the day, including both relays.
The Eagles took home the gold in both the 200 Freestyle and Medley relays to pick up 20 of the team's 118 points on the day.
In the individual events, Danielle Dillon was one of Bridgewater's top performers as the freshman honed in two top finishes in the 200 and 400 meter freestyle events. Dillon's 5:03.66 second finish the 400 meter freestyle race crushed the former school record of 5:11.71 set two years ago by Morgan Cordle.
Dillon was joined by Lauren Clague who also won two individual events. Clague won both sprints, the 50 and 100 meter freestyle events, including a record-setting performance in the 50 meter swim. Her time of 30.06 seconds snapped the former school record of 30.82 set last season by Sophie Thomas.
BC snapped two other records on the afternoon, with freshman Jeni Zeiler's first-place finishing time of 1:29.47 snapping the 100 meter breaststroke record, while the 200 meter freestyle relay squad was also victorious in a record-setting time of 2:07.78.
Over the weekend the Eagles also named this year's team captains. Senior Lauren Gladish was elected for the second straight season while junior Lauren Clague was also elected.
"Both girls show excellent leadership skills and the team trusted them to continue to guide the team in a positive direction," said third year mentor Fran Smith.
Bridgewater is back in action on November 14 when the team travels to Greensboro College to take on Guilford with the meet being scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
