Swimmers Win Home Opener, 115-74, Over Greensboro

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – In the team's home opener, the Bridgewater Eagles swim team broke four school records en route to a 115-74 victory over the Greensboro Pride in Nininger Pool.

Bridgewater opened the day with a record-setting victory on the 200 meter medley relay. The unit touched the wall in a time of 2:18.07 to set a new school record in the event.

Freshman Jessica Abbott picked up the win in the 200 meter freestyle with a winning time of 2:22.12, before fellow classmate Carrie Crowther set her first school record of the day in the 50 meter freestyle race. Crowther touched in a time of 29.08 to set a new mark in the event.

Sophomore Jeni Zeiler was victorious in the 200 meter individual medley in a winning time of 2:48.24, while Abbott claimed her second individual win of the day in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 1:13.59.

Freshman Michelle Caron won the 100 and 400 meter freestyle events, setting a new record in the 400 meter event in the process. Caron won the 100 meter race in a time of 1:06.43 before winning the 400 meter event in a record-setting time of 4:55.82.

Crowther set her final school record of the day in the 100 meter backstroke in a finishing time of 1:14.22.

Bridgewater is back in action on November 19 and 20 when the squad travels to Randolph-Macon for the Randolph-Macon Invitational.
