BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Sophomore Jeni Zeiler (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) broke another school record as the Bridgewater Eagles swim team was victorious in every event on the afternoon in a 146-57 victory over the visiting Guilford Quakers.

Zeiler set a new 100 meter breaststroke record in a time of 1:25.11, claiming the win by nearly three seconds and snapping her former mark by nearly a second.

Bridgewater got the day started with a win in the 200 meter medley relay in a time of 2:16.37 before going 1-2-3 in the 800 meter freestyle event. Sophomore Danielle Dillon (Roanoke, Va./Hidden Valley) was victorious in 800 meter race in a time of 10:41.84 and was followed by senior Laura Aldstadt (Winchester, Va./James Wood) and sophomore Patricia Haden (Harrisonburg, Va./Turner Ashby).

In the 200 meter freestyle event, freshman Michelle Caron (Palmyra, Va./Fluvanna County) was victorious in a time of 2:24.07.

Bridgewater's winning ways continued in the 50 meter freestyle when freshman Carrie Crowther (Burgess, Va./Northumberland) took home the top spot in a time of 29.44, missing her personal-best mark by 36-hundredths of a second.

Following Zeiler's win in the 200 meter individual medley, Caron claimed her second victory of the day with a triumph in the 100 meter butterfly. Caron touched the pad in a time of 1:17.89 to claim the win.

Fellow freshman Jessica Abbott (Nathalie, Va./Chatham Hall) kept the ball rolling for the Eagles with a victory in the 100 meter freestyle in a time of 1:05.38, before Crowther earned her second victory of the day in the 100 meter backstroke with a finishing time of 1:16.33.

Dillon followed with her second win of the day, this time a triumph in the 400 meter freestyle before Zeiler's record-setting victory in the 100 meter breaststroke.

Bridgewater wrapped up the day with a victory in the 200 meter freestyle relay, earning the win in a time of 2:06.28.

"Overall, I thought we swam well. We didn't have many personal best times, but considering the time of the season we are in, with finals week looming and just coming off of the Thanksgiving break, I was pleased," said head coach Fran Smith.

Bridgewater is back in action after the New Year when it travels to Hollins on January 7, 2011.
