CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - Following a solid start to the 2011 ODAC Swimming Championships at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, the Bridgewater Eagles turned in a strong day, setting two records along the way, en route to sitting solidly in fourth place after day two of the championships.
Bridgewater opened the day with a fifth place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. The quartet of Clymore, Aldstadt, Zeiler, Jennifer Lutz touched the pad in a time of 2:08.58 to top their preliminary time from the morning by a second and a half.
Freshman Michelle Caron followed up the performance from the relay with a seventh place finish in the 400 yard individual medley. Caron finished in a time of 5:17.22
Following the 200 yard freestyle, the Eagles posted one of their finest ODAC Championship performances in program history, taking home the 6-7-8 spots in the 100 yard breaststroke. Zeiler led the way, taking home sixth place in a time of 1:14.78, followed by Lutz (1:17.15) and Aldstadt (1:20.94).
Freshman Carrie Crowther snapped the 100 yard backstroke record with a fourth place finish in the event. Crowther touched the pad in a time of 1:04.02 to set a new school mark in the event.
Finally, Bridgewater finished the day with a record-setting finish in the 800 yard freestyle relay. The team of Dillon, Zeiler, Caron and Crowther finished in a time of 8:44.52 to snap the former mark by seven seconds.
Bridgewater wraps up the 2010-11 regular season on Sunday when the ODAC/Atlantic State Championships wrap up.
