FOREST, Va. – Junior swimmer Carrie Crowther turned in a stellar weekend in the pool, helping lead the Bridgewater Eagles swim team to a 1-1 weekend and for her efforts earned Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Swimmer of the Week honors.
The recognition for Crowther is the first of the season for a Bridgewater swimmer and is the first for the program since Shannon Myers was tabbed as the Swimmer of the Week in November 2011.
On Friday evening, Crowther won two individual events and swam the anchor leg of Bridgewater's victorious 200 yard medley relay squad. Crowther topped the field in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.36 and reigned supreme in the 100 yard freestyle with a winning time of 56.65 seconds.
On Saturday at Washington and Lee, Crowther started the day with a runner-up finish in the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 25.88 seconds. Crowther followed up her performance with a victory in the 100 yard freestyle. Crowther touched the pad in a time of 55.98 seconds to post just the second individual event victory ever for Bridgewater against the Generals.
Finally, Crowther swam the third leg on Bridgewater's runner-up finishing 400 yard freestyle relay which finished with a time of 3:51.82.
Crowther and the rest of the Eagles are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they wrap up the 2012-13 meet season with a tri-meet against Emory & Henry and Notre Dame of Maryland. Start time from Nininger Pool is set for 12 p.m.
