Heeb-Wade Record Highlights Opening Day at Yellow Jacket Invite

ASHLAND, Va. – Olivia Heeb-Wade set a school record as the Bridgewater College women's swim team opened competition at the RMC Yellow Jacket Invitational.

Heeb-Wade swam 5:30.80 in the 500 yard free to place 18th overall. The previous school mark was 5:31.52, set two years ago by Gabrielle Harbour.

Kaitlyn Hilliker (34th, 5:57.51) and Laurel Glover (36th, 5:58.08) also placed well in the 500 free.

BC' top placing came from Emma Daw, who was 7th in the 200 IM (2:17.78). Rachael King was 24th in 2:24.78.

Bridgewater couldn't place as high in the 50 free, with the Eagles led by Genevieve Young (45th, 28.00). Jordan Back (28.10) was one spot back of Young, and Taylor Berard (28.33) placed 50th.

The Eagles were 13th in the 400 medley relay (Kelley Hilliker, Jenna Walmer, King, Daw; 4:22.46) and 16th in the 200 free relay (Walmer, Heeb-Wade, Glover, Back; 1:49.19).

Bridgewater scored 91 points to place ninth out of 11 scoring teams heading into tomorrow's final day of events.
