Freestyle Events Lead Eagles Past D-II Pfeiffer

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's swimming team dominated the freestyle events in a victory over Division II Pfeiffer University on the campus of Hampden-Sydney College.

The Eagles won 118-82 to finish their dual meet schedule with a 10-1 record- the first double-digit victory total in program history.

BC went 1-2 in two freestyle events. Rachael King led the way in the 800 free (10:40.15), ahead of teammate Kaitlyn Hilliker (11:00.70). Kaitlyn's sister Kelley Hilliker (4:52.59) bested King (5:12.07) in the 400 free.

Bridgewater also won the 50 free with Emma Daw (29.35) and 100 free with Laurel Glover (1:06.93). The only freestyle race they didn't win was a 200 free where Glover placed second (1:06.93).

Daw got her second event win in the 100 breast, with a time of 1:19.79.

Emily Carr was second in the 100 back (2:17.68), as was Morgan Beauregard in the 400 IM (6:03.98) and Jordan Back in the 100 fly (1:13.79).

The Eagles were also successful in the relays- swimming the program's second-fastest time in the 200 meter medley (2:11.91) and going 1-2 in the 200 free relay.

Bridgewater will now get ready for the ODAC championships on February 9-11 in Greensboro, N.C.
