AUSTIN, Texas –
Bridgewater College women's golf senior Christina Herbert has been named a first team Academic All-American for the second straight year.

The 2017-18 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America At-Large Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Sports that do not have their own Academic All-American team are included in the at-large category, making it generally the most competitive.

Among the 45 student-athletes of each gender selected to the Division III Academic All-America At-Large teams, 12 men and 16 women carry 4.0 or better grade-point averages. The 17 members of the men's at-large first team carry an average G.P.A. of 3.96, while the 15 members of the women's at-large team carry an average G.P.A. of 3.97.

Herbert maintained a 3.93 GPA as a psychology major while again ranking among the top Division III golfers in the country.

Herbert was named a WGCA first team All-America for the third straight year, becoming the first BC athlete in any sport to be a four-year All-American. She was an honorable mention All-American selection as a freshman before being named to the first team in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The 2017 WGCA National Player of the Year was also named to the All-East Region team this season for the fourth consecutive time.

The senior ranked third in the nation in scoring average (74.05) and seventh in GolfStat's computer player rankings heading into the NCAA championships, her third selection to the national tournament.

Herbert, the ODAC Player of the Year, won her third ODAC individual title this season by eight strokes. It was her fourth tournament win of the season, along with two other second place finishes. She was named the ODAC Player of the Week six times this year.

She also earned the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award and the Bridgewater Geisert Scholar-Athlete award- presented to the school's top senior student-athlete.
