Gaffney, Herbert Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. –
Bridgewater College seniors Casey Gaffney and Christina Herbert both earned academic honors on Tuesday from the WGCA.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced today, with a total of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team include a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

Gaffney, a business administration major with an emphasis in accounting and finance, earned her second consecutive third team All-ODAC honor this season. Also a member of the varsity field hockey team, she ranked 14th in the conference in scoring as a senior and seventh in her junior season.

Herbert, a psychology major, was named a first team Academic All-American for the second straight time this season along with earning her fourth All-American honor. She was the ODAC individual champion, ODAC Player of the Year, and an NCAA qualifier in 2017-18- the third time she has achieved each of those accomplishments.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
