Women’s Lacrosse Pegged Seventh in Preseason Poll

Women’s Lacrosse Pegged Seventh in Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. – With a young squad returning to the mix in 2012, the Bridgewater Eagles women's lacrosse team was selected to finish in seventh place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) this season in polling conducted among the conference coaches.

Bridgewater returns just one All-ODAC performer from last season in honorable mention selection Taylor Chamberlain. Chamberlain led the Eagles in scoring last season with 44 goals and 10 assists. Her 44 goals placed the Finksburg, Md. native in a tie for 12th in the conference in goals scored.

The Eagles return more than half of their scoring from a rebuilding year last season under then first-year head coach Kim Lowry.

Washington and Lee University earned seven first place votes and 79 total points as the Generals were tabbed atop the 2012 ODAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll.  Lynchburg College received two top nods on the way to 73 tallies.  Roanoke College and Virginia Wesleyan College each collected 62 points to tie for third, but the Marlins also garnered one first place vote.

Randolph-Macon rounded out the top five with 45 points.

Bridgewater opens the 2012 regular season on March 3 when it travels to Frostburg State. Action is set for a 1:00 p.m. start. The Eagles will unofficially open play on February 14 when they travel to JMU to play the Welsh National team.
