BRIDGEWATER - Roanoke scored in the first minute of overtime her Saturday afternoon to hand the Bridgewater College Eagles a 1-0 defeat in ODAC women's soccer action.

The Eagles controlled play for much of the game, but were unable to put the ball into the net. Bridgeawter held an 18-6 edge in shots and a 4-3 margin in corner kicks. In the second half, Bridgewater outshot the Maroons 10-2.

Roanoke possessed the ball to start overtime and Laura Garbarini sent a pass from the far, left side across the field where Meagan Ryan hit her shot toward the back post and into the side of the net for the game-winning goal just 37 seconds into the extra session.

Roanoke goalkeeper Chris Martin recorded seven saves while Eagles keeper Hayley Talbott finished with two saves.

The loss drops the Eagles to 14-4-1 overall and 7-3 in ODAC play. The Eagles will take the field again in a first-round ODAC tournament game against an opponent still to be determined. The conference office will announced the tournament seedings and pairings following the end of regular season play Sunday afternoon.
