GLASSBORO, N.J. - Bridgewater College held The College of New Jersey, the nation's third-ranked team, scoreless for 50 minutes Sunday, but the Lions scored three goals the rest of the way to defeat the Eagles, 3-0, at Rowan University.
After a scoreless first half, the Lions scored two goals in a four-minute stretch early in the second half to take control. Julia Obst put TCNJ on the board when she cleaned up a loose ball in the box to make it 1-0 in the 51st minute. Less than four minutes later, Obst put a shot off frame that bounced off the crossbar and teammate Kelly Carolan scored off the rebound to make it 2-0.
Bridgewater freshman goalkeeper Jessica Touve made her first collegiate start and recorded five saves in the first half to help keep the Lions off the scoreboard. Sydney Davis played the second half in goal and also had five saves.
The Eagles, now 1-1, are back in action Wednesday when they host Averett University.
