Women’s Tennis Blanks Emory & Henry on Senior Day

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater's 12th consecutive win came easily on Senior Day at the BC Tennis Courts as the Eagles women's tennis team shutout visiting Emory & Henry by a 9-0 score in the team's home finale.

During the month of April, Bridgewater has outscored its opponents by a 27-1 margin, while the Eagles have outscored their opponents by an 88-20 tally during their 12 match winning streak.

The freshman duo of Katie Gordon and Katy Bergey were 8-2 winners at number one to earn their team-leading 12th doubles victory of the season.

Senior Morgan McGhee teamed up with Emily Schweitzer at number two to notch an 8-1 win before the tandem of Olivia Stone and Rita Murphy earned an 8-2 win at number three.

In singles play, Gordon was challenged at number one but pulled out a 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 win to post her fourth straight victory in top flight action.

Bergey picked up an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory at number two, before Brittany Wilson claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win at number two to extend her winning streak to 13.

Sophomore Amanda Gorby was a 7-6 (6-4), 7-5 winner at number four, while McGhee earned her fifth win of the Spring with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at number five.

Stone rounded out the win for the Eagles with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout victory at number six.

Before the match, the Eagles honored their lone senior, Morgan McGhee.

Bridgewater, now 13-2 overall, is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Roanoke for a make-up match against the Maroons.
