Women's Tennis Drops Match To Seagulls

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University Seagulls blanked Bridgewater College, 9-0, Sunday in non-conference women's tennis action.

The Eagles were competitive in doubles play despite dropping all three flights.

At No. 1 doubles, Bridgewater's Jamiah Lewis and Whitney Kiser were defeated by Amika Kezman and Julia Kwedi, 8-5. Salisbury's Jordan Schaefer and Sydney Soto stopped Nicole Shifflett and Stephanie Barton, 8-3, to win at No. 2 doubles. At the No. 3 slot, the Eagles' pair of Rachel Zarin and Ashley Price fell, 8-4, to Taylor Cooper and Sage Cole.

Salisbury won all six singles matches in straight sets.

At the top slot Kezman downed Lewis 6-2, 6-2. Kwedi took a 6--0, 6-2 win over Kiser at No. 2. At No. 3 Cooper defeated Shittlett 6-1, 6-0 while Soto took a 6-1, 6-2 win over Barton to win at No. 4 singles. Schaefer topped Zarin 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and Shannon Hickman completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Rachel Crawford at No. 6 singles.
